Reiki Roots Virtual Community Circle
A Reiki practice circle to Reconnect, Receive, and Root in Community.
The Reiki Roots Community Circle is a virtual gathering space (on Zoom) for people who practice Reiki—of all levels—who are ready to deepen their connection to Reiki in community. Whether you’re just beginning or returning to your practice, this circle invites you to both give and receive Reiki in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Founded by Tekla Ayers and Sally Pelto-Wheeler, Reiki Roots is a practice-based circle that honors the Japanese origins of Reiki, centers mutual care, and fosters collective wisdom. It’s a space to rekindle your intuition, build confidence, and feel truly held—energetically and emotionally.

Why join the Reiki Roots Community?
-
Reignite your relationship with Reiki through bi-monthly sessions that include self-practice, partnered shares, and time to reflect with a compassionate community.
-
Remember that when you share Reiki, you are not “giving” you are connecting to Reiki and holding space for others- you receive as much as you “give” while sharing. You’ll also haver your turn to simply meditate and have space held by others for you, receiving the benefits of Reiki.
-
Practice Reiki with peers of all experience levels in a space where learning, experimentation, and imperfection are not only welcomed—but expected.
-
We intentionally recognize the Japanese lineage of Reiki and create space for thoughtful dialogue about its roots and evolution. While many participants are white-bodied, we are committed to honoring and not appropriating this sacred healing tradition.
-
This space is built on shared values: curiosity, self-responsibility, reciprocity, and brave, compassionate communication. (Full guidelines below.)

Community Care Agreements
Community guidelines created during our first circle: Reiki Roots Community, we will do our best to…
Take space and make space.
Courageously hold and tend to ourselves, knowing that when we hold ourselves we can more
Expansively hold space for others.
Invite curiosity rather than judgment.
Use our voices to gently call each other in and use the phrase “oops ouch” when something feels hurtful/misaligned.
Speak from our own personal experience.
Witness without needing to respond (especially when it comes to comfort/ comforting).
Not offer advice unless it is asked for.
Accept non-closure.
Honor the sharing that occurs in community, and protect each other by not naming names if/ when we share our learnings with others.
Laugh with each other and have hope for the future we are co-creating together.
Honor feelings of mutuality, sharing the ‘weight’, and reciprocity.
Safety and belonging feels much like “home” and is supported by having and holding these agreements in loving accountability.
Co-Hosts Rooted in Shared Purpose
Tekla Ayers and Sally Pelto-Wheeler have been in friendship and practice for nearly 5 years, connecting during the pandemic shutdown in 2020, when Sally started working 1:1 with Tekla + distance Reiki. Sally took the leap and joined the first BE Rooted cohort, and has continued to be a committed part of community. They share a deep accountability in their own un-learning and healing from white supremacy culture. They co-hosted a See No Stranger study group together and love holding this Reiki Roots Community space together. They are both space-holders, inspired by the practice of Reiki, and forever learners committed to collective care and justice.
Listen to Sally's podcast interview with Tekla about Sally’s journey with Reiki and how she has brought it and other practices from Be Rooted to her children and her professional life as a coach. Listen and breathe with Sally as she guides you through a grounding breath work meditation here!
