Meet Tekla Ayers
Reiki Practitioner, Teacher and Community Space Holder
I’m Tekla — an intuitive Reiki practitioner, teacher, and community builder with over a decade of experience helping people reconnect with themselves. My work at Be Rooted combines the science of trauma, nervous system regulation, and somatic with the magic of Reiki, energy healing, and community support.
I believe healing happens through presence, connection, and practice. I’m here to hold space for you, wherever you are on your journey.
Committed to grounded, compassionate healing.
My Path to Reiki & Community Healing
Before stepping fully into this work, I spent years as a science teacher, environmental educator, doula, and prenatal yoga instructor. These paths led me to Reiki, mindfulness, and somatic practices as tools that supported me through my own life challenges — including step-parenting and parenting, grief, healing patterns of addiction and codependency in my immediate family, and healing migraines, EBV and physical pain through energy work, herbs and homeopathy.
Through it all, I’ve witnessed how Reiki helps people feel lighter, more centered, and connected to their true self. My mission is to make that accessible to others.
A big piece of my learning and healing over the past 7 years has been around my role as a white woman in our culture, learning the history of this country and the harm I have done to non-white people as a white woman. More info here (link) on this journey that continues through affinity group work and continued healing and growth.
12 Step recovery has been a big part of my healing journey over the past 15+ years as well, and I value the process of the 12 steps for self-healing, and the power and support of the 12 step communities that have supported me and my husband over the years.

People often describe my style as grounded woo — I honor both the science and the mystery. My work is trauma-informed, body-aware, and deeply compassionate. I bring this into every 1:1 session, class, and circle.
My influences include:
Science (epigenetics, nervous system health, somatics)
12-step recovery principles
Anti-oppression and social justice work
Nature, joy, awe, and the wisdom of community

When I’m not holding space for others.
You’ll find me with my husband and daughter—sharing meals, singing show tunes, and soaking in the joy that music brings our home. We live in Colorado for the mountains: hiking, camping, snow, wildflowers, and sunshine keep us grounded.
I’m a lifelong learner, always listening to books and podcasts, and find deep joy in community, laughter, and creativity. We homeschool, have two beloved dogs, and live a life rooted in rhythm—without social media.
Ready to Work Together?
